Death of Herb Kaplan
On June 14, 2008, one of the greats of the skating world, Herb Kaplan, died as the result of a stroke. Skate For Joy is grateful for his guidance and support over the years. He sat on our board of directors for the past two years. In addition, Herb set up the New England Amateur Foundation and used it to support countless skaters over the years. This man was truly a “gentle man†as well as a philanthropist extraordinaire. The funeral was private. Donations in his memory can be made to the New England Amateur Skating Foundation.
